DFA will purchase Dean Foods assets

Dairy Farmers of America has announced it plans to acquire Dean Foods processing facilities, direct delivery system, and additional assets for $425 million.

DFA president and CEO Rick Smith says it’s important to ensure continued secure markets for members’ milk and minimal disruption to the U.S. dairy industry and he’s pleased they have come to an agreement that’s fair to both parties.

The agreement includes 44 processing facilities across the country including in Belvidere, Illinois; Harvard, Illinois; Rockford, Illinois; Decatur, Indiana; Huntington, Indiana; Rochester, Indiana; Le Mars, Iowa; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Marquette, Michigan; Toledo, Ohio; Springfield, Ohio; and De Pere, Wisconsin.

The sale will need to undergo an antitrust review.

  • DFA buying out Dean Foods needs to be stopped. DFA is already manipulating the milk prices in areas they dominate. Do Not give them one more inch!
