DFA purchase of Dean Foods assets being reviewed

Federal investigations are underway for Dairy Farmers of America’s potential purchase of Dean Foods assets.

Letters were recently sent from the Justice Department to dairy farmers and retailers of Dean Foods to announce an investigation of a potential acquisition.  The sale would also be subject review by antitrust regulators and bankruptcy courts with hearings expected to start next month.

Dean Foods processed the most milk in terms of sales globally in 2018 and is DFA’s largest customer as the co-op markets about a third of milk produced in the U.S.

  • DFA does not have the interest of the dairymen of America as their reason for existence. Greed and control drive them. They claim to be farmer owned . What a joke! Adding Deans to this organisation
Will create an even bigger monopoly in the dairy industry. We need competition. DFA needs to be to be
broken down into real honest farmer owned cooperatives again not expanded.
