DFA explores blockchain benefits

Dairy Farmers of America has announced it is experimenting with blockchain technology as part of a new pilot project.

The co-op has partnered with the food tech start up ripe.io to increase supply chain transparency.

Vice President Sustainability and Member Services at DFA David Darr says the technology can give consumers real-time data and help increase trust and confidence about food production from start to finish.

A group of dairy farmers and one of the co-ops manufacturing plants are using the platform to evaluate how it can benefit the dairy industry and consumers.
