More details announced in Boehringer Ingelheim-Sanofi proposed deal

BrownfieldAppImageTwo European pharmaceutical companies have agreed to swap certain parts of their businesses.  Boehringer Ingelheim and Sanofi announced in June their intent to exchange Sanofi’s Merial brand of animal health products for B-I’s consumer healthcare business, allowing each to focus and grow in one group of products.

As part of the deal, B-I recently announced French-based vaccine manufacturer Ceva would purchase parts of the Merial product portfolio of animal health vaccines and pharmaceuticals.  A statement on the Boehringer Ingelheim website says the deal remains subject to approval by the European Commission and regulatory authorities in different territories.

If approved by regulators, Ceva would acquire health vaccines and pharmaceuticals for swine, bovine and companion animals as well as related intellectual property, manufacturing processes and R&D activities. This includes Circovac outside of the U.S., plus others including Progressis, Parvovax, and Genixine.
