Despite a week of rainy weather, USDA says Kansas wheat continues to be hurt by drought

More than one-third of the Kansas winter wheat crop is being significantly impacted by drought.

USDA’s crop progress and condition report says only 28 percent of the crop is rated good-to-excellent with 95 percent headed.

Corn planting is five percent ahead of last year’s pace at 87 percent with 61 percent emerged.

Fifty-six percent of soybeans have been planted, six percent ahead of last year.

Twenty percent of sorghum has been planted and 12 percent of sunflowers are in.

Cotton condition is rated at 55 percent good-to-excellent. 

Pasture and range conditions are rated 37 percent good-to-excellent.
