DEKALB partners with MLB for Field of Dreams Game

Thursday’s Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs is an opportunity to connect baseball fans with agriculture.

Jamie Horton, DEKALB Brand Manager, tells Brownfield DEKALB has partnered to be the official seed corn of Major League Baseball at Field of Dreams. “We have Rahe Farms of Dyersville that has farmed the Field of Dreams movie site for multiple years,” she said. “They farm DEKALB corn, and I think that really gives us a lot of pride that they are farming DEKALB corn at one of the most famous fields in the world.”

She says the crop surrounding the ballpark is in excellent condition this year. “I know in a lot of the Midwest we’ve dealt with either lack of rainfall or too much rainfall, but it’s going to look like a great corn field. We will have some DEKALB signage and just know that all of that corn surrounding the field is all DEKALB corn.”

Horton says some spectators tried eating the corn at last year’s inaugural game, so they are planning to help educate attendees on the different uses of corn Thursday night.
