Davis says ag research critical, at Texas farm bill hearing

Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, told participants at today’s Farm Bill field hearing in Texas that he will work to make sure ag research remains strong in the next five-year farm bill, “It’s very important to me because I represent a land-grant institution in Illinois. Some ‘small’ place called the University of Illinois.”

Davis is chairman of the House Ag Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research, “Ag research is something that is crucial for us, being able to grow the food and the fiber we need to feed the world in the future.”

Davis will host a Farm Bill listening session August 30th at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois to hear from local farmers and ag leaders. Brownfield Ag News will be on site, covering the event.
