Davidson Prize winners recognized

Three winners of the Davidson Prize have been showcased at Commodity Classic 2021.

One is a Purdue University ag start-up looking for collaborators and investors.

Dr. Jian Jin, ag and biological engineer assistant professor, represents LeafSpec, an advanced imaging technology that farmers can use with a mobile device, “It takes only 10 seconds to scan the leaf and provide measurements of the plant’s physiological features such as leaf moisture, nutrient levels, diseases and so on.”

Jin says the leaf image is immediately processed on the spot, viewed in real time, and the data is automatically stored on their cloud drive.

Purdue’s LeafSpec is one of three winners of the Davidson Award -presented at Commodity Classic, through the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

The two other Davidson award winners are Haber Technologies for its DRI-Stack a grain drying and aeration system and AGCO for its 9350 DynaFlex® Draper Header with AutoDock™ a 50-foot flexible header.
