Dairy, labor, hemp, climate part of AFBF policy session

The American Farm Bureau policy session is underway in Austin, Texas.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my privilege to call to order the meeting of the 101st annual meeting of voting delegates of American Farm Bureau Federation. Welcome and we’re glad you’re all here.”

American Farm Bureau Vice President Scott Vanderwal is standing in for President Zippy Duvall whose wife Bonnie passed away a few days ago.

Policy discussion involves ag labor, continued market access through expanded trade – building on the recent strides made with China, USMCA and Japan.

Also, rural broadband which Iowa Farm Bill President Craig Hill says is a huge priority…”That’s going to be a major goal for us going forward. We won’t be satisfied until every corner of the state of Iowa has service.”

For Illinois Farm Bureau, President Richard Guebert says, “Between climate and dairy policy, I think that’s going to be the headline for the conversation.”

The policy session continues throughout the day today. The AFBF Board of Directors meets Wednesday morning.
