Dairy groups calling for more support with export supply chain

The dairy industry is calling on the Biden administration for further supply chain relief.

In a letter to Ag Secretary Vilsack and Transportation Secretary Buttigieg, the National Milk Producers Federation and U.S. Dairy Export Council say the USDA needs to restart its Ocean Shipping Container Availability Report to increase transparency along with incentivizing carriers to load export cargo.

They also want real-time tracking of containers, fast lanes for ag exports, and more pop-up terminals at additional ports.

The groups say supply chain challenges just last year cost dairy exporters more than $1.5 billion.
