Dairy group wants farmers, consumers to comment on plant-based product labels

The Food and Drug Administration is taking comments about their proposed plant-based imitation dairy labeling guidance.  Alan Bjerga with the National Milk Producers Federation encourages farmers, processors, and consumers to go online and support real dairy because the FDA needs to hear from more dairy supporters. “We’ve been to this rodeo before on public comments and I’ve got to tell you, they’re not going to come out in our favor. The plant-based folks come out, they generate astroturf. You know, they flood it with misinformation and screams and anger and what have you.”

Bjerga says real dairy has made progress on the labeling issues because advocates gave high-quality, thoughtful comments in the past.
