Dairy future includes improved millennial marketing

Ryan Sirolli of Cargill speaks to the Dairy Strong Conference in Madison, WI

A marketing analyst says the dairy industry of the future will be more transparent because consumers will make buying decisions more on their beliefs and less on price.

As the consumer spending of millennials outpaces baby boomers and generation Xers, Ryan Sirolli of Cargill says dairy producers will have to differentiate themselves to win that market.

Sirolli says successful farms of the future will master consumer experiences and not just consumer goods.  He says many dairy producers do farm tours and market their products based on animal comfort, their unique story, or both.

Sirolli told a group of Wisconsin dairy producers some dairies are now offering 24-hour live stream video of their operations.

He says the best way to survive in the future is to create the future, setting your business apart from the rest.
