Dairy farms honored for high quality milk

More than 40 dairy farms have been recognized for their superior milk quality as part of the recent National Mastitis Council annual meeting.

Six farms received platinum awards as part of the National Dairy Quality Awards program including Cottonwood Dairy of South Wayne, Wisconsin, Mil-View Jerseys of Millersburg, Ohio, RKB Dairy of Faribault, Minnesota, Rock Solid Dairy LLC of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, United Dreams Dairy LLC of North Freedom, Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin Marshfield Agricultural Research Station in Stratford, Wisconsin.

Platinum winners range in size from 50 to 1,800 milking cows and use a wide range of management techniques to produce high quality milk on their conventional and pasture-based farms.

There were 18 Gold and 17 Silver awards also selected as 2018 winners.

Farms were nominated by dairy industry professionals and judged on their milk quality benchmarks, management techniques, and herd health and welfare.
