Crushing soybeans in Wisconsin remains a goal for growers

Steve Trzebatowski

The immediate past President of the Wisconsin Soybean Board says work is continuing towards building a soybean crushing facility in the Badger state.  Steve Trzebatowski tells Brownfield that getting a crushing plant in-state and closer to Wisconsin growers has been a goal going back several years under former Executive Director Bob Karls. “It would be great for the State of Wisconsin. It would be great for the soybean growers, so it’s not on the back burner. We’re still working through that.”

Trzebatowski says it’s still too soon to know where a crushing plant would be located. “We have to do some studies and see where it would benefit all Wisconsin soybean farmers and where most of that production would come from to be able to facilitate that.”

Trzebatowski talked to Brownfield during the recent Wisconsin Corn-Soy-Pork Expo.
