Crops still green in central Indiana

Harvest is still a couple of weeks away for central Indiana farmer Heather Hill.

“We’re cautiously optimistic to see what the yields will be like,” she said, “but I would say it’s still a ways off especially with how green things still look.”

She tells Brownfield late-season rains have been beneficial. “We got three inches of rain Monday night,” Hill said. “It was absorbed into the ground immediately.”

Hill raises corn, soybeans, and wheat near Greenfield.
