CropLife expects Biden science stance to apply to crop tools

The head of the trade association representing crop pesticide makers says he believes the incoming Biden administration will honor science. Chris Novak, President and CEO of CropLife America, tells Brownfield he is optimistic about a new EPA administrator, “I’m a farm kid and I still have that eternal optimism. And as I look at the potential for a Biden administration what does give me encouragement was one of the themes that Vice President Biden campaigned on and that was science over fiction.”

Novak tells Brownfield it was clear, on the campaign trail, that Biden supported science to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and climate change but he expects that approach will also apply to crop management tools.

“We are an industry that’s grounded in science – so if there is a commitment to science over fiction then we should continue to be able to work effectively with the incoming Biden administration.”

The Center for Food Safety has called on the Biden Administration to stop or revoke EPA’s re-approvals of glyphosate, dicamba, atrazine and two other crop protection tools.

Novak says companies that CropLife America represents spend many years formulating crop chemistries before they even get to the rigorous scientific reviews of the EPA.

“Rigorous scientific reviews” my ass. Sygenta and EPA has discredited Dr.Tyrone Hayes proven studies on atrazine time and time again. They know the effects of atrazine in vertebrates and will pay more to cover it up than fix it.
