Corn, soybean export inspections up on year

The USDA reports corn export inspections as of the week ending July 5th remain behind the department’s expectations for the current marketing year. The 2017/18 marketing year for corn, sorghum, and soybeans runs through the end of August. The 2018/19 marketing year for wheat started June 1st.

Wheat came out at 268,221 tons, down 56,327 from the week ending June 28th and 267,781 lower than the week ending July 6th, 2017. Just over a month into the 2018/19 marketing year, wheat inspections are 1,751,010 tons, compared to 3,343,553 in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,446,926 tons, 91,630 less than the previous week, but 436,037 more than this time last year. With about two months remaining in 2017/18, corn inspections are 47,207,472 tons, compared to 49,724,027 late in 2016/17.

Soybeans were pegged at 654,834 tons, a decrease of 194,540 from the week before, but an increase of 177,694 from a year ago. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 50,328,713 tons, compared to 53,016,687 last year.

Sorghum totaled 10,584 tons, 1,168 above the prior week, but 101,462 below a year ago. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,781,677 tons, compared to 5,136,986 in 2016/17.
