Corn planting underway in Ohio

Warm, dry weather for most of the week allowed Ohio producers to get a start on corn planting. The USDA says an average of four days last week were suitable for fieldwork, mostly in central portions of the state.

9% of Ohio’s corn crop is planted, compared to 7% a year ago and the five year average of 10%.

80% of winter wheat is rated good to excellent, with 41% jointing, and 82% of pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition.
