Corn planting off to a slow start in Tennessee

Planting delays continue for Tennessee farmers.  Corn is 7% planted, well behind last year and the 5-year average.  Soybeans are 1% planted on par with the 5-year average.

Wheat conditions across much of the state are mostly good with 63% of the crop rated good to excellent and 79% jointed with 9% headed.

Fifty-one percent of the apple crop is in full bloom. Sixty-nine percent of strawberries are rated good to excellent. Pastures are rated 57% good to excellent.

Topsoil and subsoil moisture are both 97% adequate to surplus.
