Corn planting in Kansas continues, majority of winter wheat poor or worse

Corn planting in Kansas picked up speed last week.

The USDA says 6 percent of the crop is in, up 1 percent from last year.

Winter wheat is rated at 61 percent poor-to-very poor with only one percent of the crop good-to-excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 80 percent short-to-very short and subsoil moisture is 73 percent short-to-very short.
