Corn harvest winding down in Tennessee

Rains in central and western Tennessee were a welcomed sight for farmers and helped improve some pasture conditions. Harvest continues to progress across the state as corn harvest is 89% complete, running slightly ahead of the 5-year average.

Soybean harvest is 46% complete with 93% dropping leaves and 49% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is rated 54% good to excellent with 32% of the crop harvested.

Winter wheat is 29% planted and 11% emerged.  Pastures are rated 29% good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 58% short to very short and subsoil moisture is 59% short to very short.
