Corn harvest underway in Tennessee

Much needed rains hit parts of Tennessee last week.  Corn harvest is underway with just 1 percent harvested and 22 percent mature, with 71 percent of the crop rated good to excellent. 

Seventy-four percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with 91 percent setting pods and 8 percent dropping leaves.  Cotton is rated 66 percent good to excellent with 9 percent of bolls opening.  Ninety-five percent of tobacco is topped with 58 percent rated good to excellent.

Sixty-two percent of pastures are rated good to excellent.

Ninety-one percent of Topsoil and eighty-give percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
