Corn harvest begins in Missouri as crop condition declines

The USDA reports corn harvest is underway in Missouri with 1% of the crop out of the fields.

As of Sunday, 31% of the crop had reached maturity with just half in the good to excellent category, down two percentage points from the week prior.

Three percent of soybeans began dropping leaves with 84% setting pods. Missouri soybeans start the month of September with 50% in the good to excellent category, down four points on the week.

Cotton setting bolls reached 98% with 17% opening. Missouri cotton is rated 52% good, unchanged on the week.

Rice conditions did see a slight week to week improvement at 55% good to excellent, along with pasture conditions at 35%.
