Corn farmers benefit from year-round E15
A northwest Iowa farmer says the Environmental Protection Agency made the right call to allow sales of E15 this summer.
Kelly Nieuwenhuis, who also chairs the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, tells Brownfield expanded access to E15 is a win-win.
“For retailers to be able to continue selling E15 is a big advantage for not only biofuels but the ag industry.”
He says year-round E15 will help improve grain markets for farmers.
“Our markets are huge for the corn farmers in the U.S. going through ethanol. That market is growing. That’s always a great deal and it’s helped with our basis in the Western Corn Belt. It’s helped overall with our corn prices.”
Nieuwenhuis says E15 also provides cost savings for consumers at the pump.
