Corn and soybean decisions for 2021

DEKALB Asgrow Technical Agronomist Brad Miller says there are several things to consider when making soybean variety and corn hybrid decisions for the upcoming year.

“Consider the conditions you have on your farm, maybe certain fields have challenges that others don’t so consider disease tolerance and drought tolerance,” he says. “If you have fields that tend to lay wet, consider hybrids that have good strong emergence.”

Advice he has for farmers to manage risk is…“It’s good to have at least 3-5 (corn) hybrids and 3-5 soybean varieties to help spread risk across your farm,” he says.

Miller is based in northern Ohio.
