Corn and rice harvest underway in Arkansas

Corn harvest picked up pace this past week. 

Soybeans are rated 64% good to excellent, with 93% is setting pods, 19% coloring, and 5% dropping leaves.  Cotton is rated 66% good to excellent with 10% of the bolls opening.  The rice crop is rated 72% rated good to excellent, 89% of the crop is headed, 15% mature, and 2% harvested.   Peanuts are rated 73% good to excellent.  Corn harvest is underway with 6% of the crop harvested, 90% of the crop is dented, and 60% mature.

The second cutting of hay is 84% complete, and 8% of alfalfa hay 17% is rated good, an improvement on the week. Vegetables are 64% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 76% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture was 63% adequate to surplus.
