Conservation practice proposals sought

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is requesting research proposals on the effectiveness of conservation practices.

Ag Commissioner Dave Frederickson says money from the Clean Water Fund can be utilized to establish on-farm projects.

“Our target would be those working farms across Minnesota.  Individuals that would have a good idea and send us an application.”

MDA says proposals should focus on the water quality effects of individual practices, as well as the cumulative effects of multiple conservation practices.

The department is requiring a cost effectiveness component, in addition to an educational and outreach plan to benefit Minnesota residents.

Project proposals must be submitted to MDA by February 10th.
