Collin Peterson receives Renewable Fuels Association Industry Award

Former Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson is the recipient of the Renewable Fuels Association Industry Award.

Peterson, who was defeated in the November election, was recognized during the National Ethanol virtual Conference Wednesday.

As a state senator in the mid 1970’s, Peterson helped launch the first ethanol plant in Minnesota.

“So I’ve been working on ethanol for a long time, I believe in it, it’s been a passion of mine. And it’s just been a pleasure for me to be able to lend my hand to make sure this industry is successful and moves ahead.”

Peterson says although he’s no longer in office, he won’t be walking away from ethanol.

“I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do yet, I’m being talked to by a number of different people. But I will stay engaged in agriculture (and) advocating for agriculture in some way, shape or form.”

RFA CEO Geoff Cooper calls Peterson the ethanol industry’s most effective and passionate advocate in the House of Representatives for decades.
