A coalition of nearly 130 food and ag groups is urging the quick confirmation of Tom Vilsack as US Ag Secretary.
In a letter to the Senate Ag Committee, the coalition endorses Vilsack’s nomination because of his previous experience as Ag Secretary and his vision for meeting the current challenges of food and agriculture.
The food and ag groups say he is ready to meet environmental challenges, enhance diversity, strengthen food security, and build prosperity through expanded trade.
The letter was signed by: Agricultural Retailers Association, Corn Refiners Association, American Farm Bureau, CropLife America, American Seed Trade Association, American Soybean Association, Farmers for Free Trade, National Corn Growers Association, National Association of Wheat Growers, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, National Grain and Feed Association, National Milk Producers Federation, National Pork Producers Council, United Egg Producers, North American Meat Institute, US Dairy Export Council, and more.
The coalition says it represents most of the food and agriculture sector that is responsible for about one-fifth of the country’s economic activity.
