CLA pleased chlorpyrifos decision back to EPA

CropLife America is pleased the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has returned the decision about the use of chlorpyrifos to the EPA.

The court has given the EPA 90 days to respond to objections from environmental works and farmworkers who want the pesticide banned over health concerns.

Chris Novak CEO of CropLife America, says chlorpyrifos has been “carefully evaluated and approved by regulatory bodies in 79 countries” and his group will continue to work with the EPA to encourage science-based decisions. Clorpyrifos is used on 50 crops.

Novak’s complete statement: “CLA is pleased that the court returned the decision to EPA. We will continue to work with the agency to encourage decisions that are based in science. Chlorpyrifos has been carefully evaluated and approved by regulatory bodies in 79 countries and is one of many critical tools used by farmers to fight pest infestations.”
