Chinese trade delegation to arrive in Washington D.C. Monday

China’s Commerce Ministry confirms its top trade negotiator and his team will arrive in Washington D.C. Monday to prepare for the signing of the Phase One trade deal.  Vice Premier Liu He and President Trump will reportedly sign the deal Wednesday, a deal Trump told reporters is pretty much all for the farmers.

Trump says sales have begun and farm prices are on the rise. “I see corn has just had some big increases over the last little while. Cattle has been doing really well, and prices are going up very substantially and China is kicking in. China has already started to buy.”

USDA Ag Economist Bart Kenner says China’s need for things is already on the uptick, and so far as of November, China has bought four million metric tons of soybeans compared to none in November of 2018, and as of November, pork exports are up more than 800%.

Washington and Beijing reached agreement December 13th.  The language of the agreement has not been released, but negotiators say the trade deal will increase Chinese purchases of U.S. farm goods, protect American intellectual property, and protect against currency manipulation.

White House advisor Larry Kudlow told Fox Business Friday the trade deal is on track to be signed Wednesday, January 15th.
