China says US must address tariffs

US and Chinese officials are working on the details of a “Phase One” trade deal that was reached last week.

But, China’s Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Gao Feng says tariffs must be removed before a final agreement can be reached.

He says the ultimate goals to end the trade war has always been to “cancel all additional tariffs.”

The US has suspended the tariff increase that was supposed to take effect this week.

President Trump and Chinese President Xi are expected to meet at an economic summit in Chile in November.
