China business leader tells U.S. ag to hang in there

The head of China’s General Chamber of Commerce – USA Chicago (CGCC) says it’s good that both sides of the U.S.-China trade war are talking.

Pin Ni owns Wanxiang America Corporation, an automotive parts business in Chicago and China, and says it’s encouraging that China is sending an envoy to D.C. and talking about lifting tariffs on U.S. pork, “Pork is one. They’re also talking about preparing the new orders for the soybeans and the other products that China should import from the USA.”

Pin Ni tells Brownfield Ag News the tariffs are painful on both sides, “We are all trying to do our best to minimize the impact to the customers and the consumers, actually on both sides. But, nevertheless, you know this has a significant impact.”

His advice to U.S. farmers and ranchers is to “hang in there” – that, the economics in the end will prevail. He says, “Right now, you’re going through the time that is difficult. But in the end as long as our product is better, our price is better, our quality is better, no matter how, we’re going to have the market.”

Business leaders from China and the U.S. are in Chicago for the 2019 Annual Gala, sponsored by CGCC and World Business Chicago, to discuss trade and investing in the Midwest.
