Center for Food Safety calls settlement ‘small restitution’

The Center for Food Safety says the Bayer settlement provides some small restitution for cancer patients affected by glyphosate Roundup products.

Bill Freese, the center’s senior policy analyst, says no financial settlement “can make good the pain, suffering and lives lost to Monsanto’s cancer-causing Roundup.”

The Center for Food Safety had filed a friend of the court brief in the lawsuit brought by Edwin Hardeman who was one of four people with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma awarded a hefty sum in damages in previous court cases.

Freese says he believes the settlement WILL help dissuade others from using Roundup and putting themselves at risk.

Bayer is firm in its defense of the product saying no regulatory body has ever found a link to cancer.
