Censky: China needs to buy more US ag goods

USDA Deputy Secretary Steve Censky says he is pleased with China’s recent purchases of US ag goods, but more will be needed to meet phase one commitments.

“They’ve been stepping up their purchases and have been purchasing a lot of soy, corn, pork, beef, and poultry but we think they need to do more,” he says. “If they’re going to meet that $36.5 billion mark, they have to step it up even more and so we’re monitoring that very closely.”

He spoke to reporters during the American Soybean Association’s 100th anniversary event Tuesday in Camden, Indiana.
