Cargill to acquire Owensboro Grain Company

Cargill has announced it will add the Owensboro Grain Company (OGC) to its North American ag portfolio.

The facility is a fifth-generation family-owned soybean processing facility and refinery located along the Ohio River.  Owensboro Grain Company operates a fully integrated soy processing facility and produces soy products like protein meal and hull pellets for animal feeds, crude and degummed oil, biodiesel, glycerin, and industrial waxes.

Cargill says the addition enhances Cargill’s efforts to modernize and increase capacity across its North American oilseeds network to support the growing demand for oilseeds driven by food, feed, and renewable fuels.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close in early 2023.  The deal, which has been approved by the Board of Directors of Cargill and Owensboro Grain Company, is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
