Breakfast on the Farm makes a comeback

Michigan State University Extension is resuming its Breakfast on the Farm program after a three-year pause.

Program coordinator Ashley Decker tells Brownfield the events help educate consumers about modern agriculture.

“People have not lost their interest in how their food is produced and we’re excited to give them a face behind the food,” she says.

Decker says exit surveys from past events have found positive changes to participants’ perceptions and purchasing habits.

“We are definitely teaching people who would not have that opportunity to come out and visit and learn about agriculture,” she says.

Risky Endeavor Dairy near Alpena has been selected to host this year’s event on September 24.

Decker says organizers are also still looking for host farms for the future.
