BOAH offering e-updates for Indiana pork industry

IBOAH

Indiana’s Board of Animal Health is now offering e-updates on some of the swine industry’s most threatening diseases.  Soon after swine enteric coronavirus disease, which includes porcine epidemic diarrhea virus, was identified in Indiana in 2013, BOAH established a web paged dedicated to SECD and PEDv information and updates.

Now, BOAH has made reports more accessible and regular for producers, veterinarians, and others with interest in the livestock industry by providing an email subscription option.

Twice a month, BOAH posts a SECD situation report that includes Indiana maps of newly identified cases, an analysis of positive and negative laboratory test submissions, and an overview of Indiana’s case history. The goal of the report is to provide industry information about where the SECD viruses are most active and assist producers in making informed management decisions and assess risk.
