Bill passes with no funding for USDA KC relocation

The Kansas City Star says the appropriations bill that passed the Democrat-controlled House this afternoon contains no funding for the USDA to move two of its agencies to the Kansas City area.

An amendment to strike language in the bill prohibiting the relocation of the ERS and NIFA failed. The bill awards funding for the ERS and NIFA as long as it isn’t used to relocate the research agencies.

But Kansas City Congressman Emanuel Cleaver tells the Star that he’s confident funding will be added when the bill gets to the Republican-controlled Senate.
