Biden releases funds to strengthen port infrastructure

President Biden has authorized the release of $450 Million dollars in newly available grant funds to strengthen port infrastructure to help the supply chain.

The funds are through the bipartisan infrastructure law and nearly double last year’s investments for states and port authorities.

The Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration will release the grants through its Port Infrastructure Development Program to help expand port capacity and improve the movement of goods through them.

Acting Maritime Administrator Lucinda Lessley says the historic investments “will help remove bottlenecks” and improve intermodal connections while creating new jobs in the U.S. maritime industry.
