Biden administration plans to expand electric vehicles in ag
The U.S. Transportation Secretary said the Biden administration is working to expand the reach of electric vehicles across the country.
Pete Buttigieg tells Brownfield ag workers and rural residents would benefit from a shift toward electric vehicles.
“When you’re doing a lot of towing or other uses that require torque, you’ll see that performance improvement,” he said. “And of course, the more rural and spread out your home area, the more you’re driving, more gas you’re using, the more money you’re going to save [with electric].”
The President’s plan would add half a million charging stations across the country.
Buttigieg said rural residents will have some extra advantages when using electric vehicles.
“It’s also more likely to be the case in rural communities that people can charge the easy way which is just at home in your garage,” Buttigieg said. “A lot of these things you can run right off a regular 120 plug, let alone a 240.”
He said the administration is mapping out where to put the charging stations.
Why electric? We already have the infrastructure for renewable fuels. They work well outside the major metropolitan areas. No need to reinvent the wheel.
