HLC Custom Beef comes with a personal touch
Word of mouth and strong relationships have been key for a Michigan beef producer to start selling directly to consumers.
Robyn Fogarasi tells Brownfield she grew up in Flint, but after marrying a fourth-generation farmer, she’s found her fit marketing the family’s beef.
“I sell mostly quarters, halves, or wholes,” she says.
A close relationship with their butcher and personally delivering meat, putting a face to the farmer, Fogarasi says has created repeat customers and helped build their brand.
“I haven’t had a single client who went from store-bought beef to farm-fresh beef and went back to store-bought,” she says. “All of my clients buy from us regularly.”
The Sterling farmer says plans are underway to build a feedlot barn to help expand their herd and, in the next three years, she wants to be entirely solar-powered.
