Bayer Youth Ag Summit visits Brazil this week, announces 2021 location

One hundred delegates from 45 countries gathered in Brazil this week for the 2019 Bayer Youth Ag Summit.

Former Brownfield intern Beverly Flatt, now with Bayer Crop Science says each delegate comes to the summit with a “Drive for Change” project highlighting a solution that could change the face of agriculture. She shares one example from this year…

“Developing an online digital platform to educate local farmers around English language agriculture terms so that way they can expand their sales in their home countries to those native English speakers since that is one of the most universal languages in the world.”

She says this year’s summit, including travel, was the first certified carbon neutral event.

“We have had the chance to sequester the carbon we are producing through this event to ensure that by the end of this week we reach a net zero when it comes to our carbon emissions.”

Flatt tells Brownfield the summit will continue in 2021.

“We’re also really excited to announce that the next crop of delegates will be celebrating their time together in China.”

The Youth Ag Summit is a biennial global forum that brings 18-25-year old’s from around the world together to think deeply about how food an ag work and how delegates can unlock solutions to feeding a growing population.
