Bayer announces move to St. Louis

Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced today Bayer’s North American Crop Science Division is moving 500 jobs to Creve Coeur, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.

The announcement comes after Parson’s trip to Europe where he met with Bayer CEO Werner Baumann. Parson says the $164 Million move has been in the works since before the trip.

“The reality of it is that’s why we did some of the legislation we did this year,” Parson says. “It’s to try and make sure that those workers are available.”

Bayer’s president of crop science in North America, Lisa Safarian, says company headquarters in North Carolina will move to St. Louis.

“Bayer’s headquarters was in Raleigh, North Carolina, and so, that headquarters is closing,” Safarian says. “And so, we will be relocating those individuals to St. Louis.”

Bayer’s acquisition of St. Louis based Monsanto was finalized in 2018.
