Bayer agronomist recommends trying 2019 plans again in 2020

An agronomist with Bayer Crop Science says when planning for 2020, farmers should start with their original agronomic plans from 2019.

“In many cases we weren’t able to execute that good plan that we had for 2019 because of planting delays, weather issues and prevent planting and so we ended up going to plan B, plan C, plan D.”

Lance Tarochione covers West Central Illinois. He tells Brownfield farmers should not be afraid to stick with products that work well for them just because something new is on the market.

“I am a very big ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ kind of guy and we have got a lot of customers who are very pleased with the products that they’ve been planting and in many cases those are still the products that we are recommending for 2020.”

He says everything was delayed in 2019 which has also pushed back 2020 planning, but farmers should be working with their agronomists soon.
