AURI releases Minnesota Industrial Hemp Report

Minnesota’s Ag Utilization Research Institute (AURI) has released a report focused on building the industrial hemp industry.

AURI project development director Harold Stanislawski says the findings provide a summary of the primary value-added opportunities, including food, fiber, CBD, fuel and feed.

“We just need to all work together and understand what the impediments are, and then understand what the issues are to grow the industry. And i think when we do that, we’ll be successful.”

He tells Brownfield the report also underscores the importance of hemp growers ensuring they have an end user secured.

“But this is an approved USDA crop now. Crop insurance and some of the other things are coming along, so we feel very good about where we’re at with this crop right now.”

The report concludes by saying the hemp market is global, and the regulatory climate is changing rapidly.  AURI says it is well positioned to form connections and provide necessary resources to help Minnesota’s economy capitalize on the growing industry.
