August weather forecast is looking up for problem areas

Brownfield Meteorologist Greg Soulje says the Midwest is in better shape than last year when it comes to weather conditions, but there are some problem areas.

“Parts of Indiana, eastern Ohio, parts of eastern and southeastern Michigan are in a world of hurt with dryness and drought and sections of central and western Iowa and eastern Nebraska as well so again we have these pockets,” he says.

He says there should be some gradual improvement in August.

“Hopefully in the short-term there will be some general improvement with easy temperatures and some degree of additional rainfall in some of these key far eastern and southeastern corn belt locales,” he says.

Soulje says additional rainfall should help those problem areas.
