At a stalemate: Deere & Co. strike headed into a second month

The United Automobile Workers Union says it’s unclear when Deere & Company and its employees will return to the negotiating table as the strike is expected to enter its second month next week.

In a Statement to Brownfield, Deere says conversations continue with UAW and the company remains open to any proposals the union might make that could ratify the contract.

Deere says it’s reached its maximum costs in their latest proposal, and it was their “best and final” offer. The company says the latest offer gave employees “industry leading” wages and benefits, but it must balance costs with future competitiveness.
