ASA and NCGA pleased with replacement WOTUS rule
The American Soybean Association and National Corn Growers Association
are both pleased with the replacement WOTUS regulation. ASA President Bill
Gordon of Minnesota says the organization is pleased with the rule, saying it provides
certainty and clear direction for farmers. “We have long rallied for a
replacement rule that protects our waterways while still offering a workable
solution for farmers and that does not impose undue burden on agriculture,”
said Gordon, in a prepared statement. “We express our thanks to the
administration.”
The new rule gives farmers the flexibility and clarity needed to implement
stewardship practices without the threat of government action, said Kevin Ross,
a farmer in southeastern Iowa and president of the National Corn Growers
Association. “Farmers are committed to protecting the environment and
implementing on-farm soil health practices like planting cover crops, reducing
tillage and more carefully managing crop residue,” said Ross, in a news release.
“NCGA appreciates the work done by the Trump Administration to provide this
regulatory certainty.”
