Arkansas crops: soybeans 69% and cotton 73% good to excellent

Hot and dry weather continues to put pressure on crops in Arkansas.

Soybeans are rated 69% good to excellent, 85% of the crop blooming, and 53% is setting pods.  Cotton is rated 73% good to excellent with 95% squaring and 54% setting bolls. The rice crop is rated 64% rated good to excellent, 9% of the crop is headed.   Peanuts are rated 84% good to excellent with 75% pegging.  Corn is rated 62% good to excellent, 96% of the crop is silking, 61% is in the dough stage, and 29% is dented. 

The second cutting of hay is 61% complete, and 8% of alfalfa hay is rated good. Vegetables are 56% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 90% short to very short and subsoil moisture was 89% short to very short.
